FAQs:
Q: Is there a hotel block?
A: Yes, but it's complicated. If you book with the block, you will get a 15% discount on the night of the hotel. However, they cannot honor this on their website, so we need to manage a list of who wants rooms, which will then be paid for on arrival. Credit cards are accepted. If you are interested in this, it's part of the RSVP form to indicate that you want one! You are very welcome to book wherever you please. You can also book the Hacienda del Cardenal normally online if you prefer (without discount).
Q: What's the dress code?
A: Cocktail-ish. It's going to be springtime, in the garden of the old Spanish Cardinal's villa-turned-hotel. Classy but comfy. Emma is pro-florals and pro-sandals.
Q: Are there other plans before/after the wedding?
A: Antonio and Emma plan to be around for a few days before and after the wedding. Beforehand we'll likely hang out around the hotel and at the hotel bar/restaurant to say hello and catch up as folks arrive. After (primarily on Friday) we'll likely have an optional group activity and additional optional social time. We plan to depart Toledo on Saturday.
Q: Do you have a wedding registry?
A: No, we don't. Your presence is more than enough, but if you feel compelled to give us a wedding gift, we would be honored with a contribution towards a special trip. If you feel a physical gift is a must, we'd prefer it be sent to our UK address, to prevent excessive luggage.
Q: How do you get to Toledo from Madrid?
A: If you're interested in renting a car, it's a quick 1 hour drive. There's a free parking lot about a 20 minute walk from the hotel (it's hilly though, be warned), or paid parking a few minutes from the hotel. Most folks will like take the train! It's a quick ~30 min train ride. The train station is very near the free parking, so about a 25 minute walk from the hotel (still hilly though), or a few minute taxi or bus ride to the hotel. Fret not if this sounds stressful - we'll provide step by step instructions and support. We may also be able to buddy travelers up depending on arrival/departure plans.
Q: What's Toledo like?
A: The city center is gorgeous and old, and hilly! Bring some good walking shoes and plan to take it easy. The hotel is on the edge of the old town. There is a hop on, hop off bus that is great for seeing the sights without walking up and down all the hills!
Q: What else is there to do in the area?
A: So much! Wineries, castles, military museums, Puy de Fou, El Greco art museum and more are all at your doorstep. Toledo is full of winding streets and gorgeous architecture, surrounded by a river and the nearby "cigarrals" with amazing views. Madrid is a bustling capital city with all the benefits of such, and just on the other side is Segovia which is also a stunning medieval town. If you'd like ideas for what to do, let us know!
Q: Anything unique about Spanish weddings I should know?
A: To be honest, this will be both Antonio and Emma's first Spanish wedding. So, take online Spanish wedding etiquette with a grain of salt. Feel free to ask if you're unsure about something. Main thing to note is that attire is typically on the more elegant side.
